Volunteering is easy and fun! All volunteers are required to complete the following trainings prior to entering the building. Please note that training must be completed each school year.

STEP 1: Take the HCPSS Countywide Volunteer Trainings

Once you have completed the training, print and sign the certificate of completion.

STEP 2: Complete the HES Volunteer Google Form to record completion of your trainings.

STEP 3: Bring your signed completion certificates prior to your first day of volunteering.

STEP 4: Sign up for opportunities listed here on the site!

New Volunteer Opportunities

2023-24 PTA Events – Volunteers Needed!  No experience necessary!  Just bring your enthusiasm and ideas.  We’d love to have you!

PTA has many exciting events planned for this year, but we need your help to make them happen.  Please look through the list below and let us know which events would interest you to volunteer for.  All levels of time and experience are gladly welcome, and volunteering is a great way to get to know your student’s school!  Just send a quick email to president@hespta.org and let us know you want to help.  Let’s make great memories for our kids this year!

Ice Cream Social – Friday, September 29th

Help us plan/set up/decorate for a fun evening with sweet treats and (hopefully) live musical entertainment.    

Trunk or Treat/Fall Social Event, Saturday, October 28th 

Create this first-time-for-Hammond fall event with trunk or treating and all the fixins!  This event needs a chairperson, planning committee members, and volunteers to help out on the day of the event.    

Skate Party, Saturday, November 4th

We’re throwing a skate party at the Laurel Roller Skating Center!  This event needs a chairperson, planning committee members, and volunteers to help out on the day of the event.    

Book Fair, December 7th-15th

The Scholastic Book Fair is returning again this year!  We need a core group of volunteers to help Ms. Haavik plan this much-anticipated event, as well as, folks for set up, daytime assistance, after school times/events, and breaking down the event at the end of the fair. 

Bingo Night, Wednesday, January 31st

Let’s plan a fun night out with bingo, prizes, hot cocoa and cookies to beat the winter doldrums.  This event needs a chairperson, planning committee, and day-of event volunteers.

Talent Show, February (exact date TBD)

Hammond’s got talent, and we want to showcase it.  Back again this year, our Talent Show Committee needs volunteers to plan and put on this wonderful community event. Please contact Ryan Watkins at ryan.n.watkins15@gmail.com to sign up.  

Multicultural Night, Friday, March 15th

After several years on hiatus, this much-loved event is returning to HES this year. We’re showcasing all the varied cultures that make our community unique and wonderful.  Please let us know if you’d like to join the planning committee or help out at the event.  Later this year, we will also be looking for individual families to create the cultural showcases.  More information to come on that.

Spring Carnival, Saturday, April 13th

Our favorite event is back again this year with all the food, fun and rides you expect!  Please reach out if you are interested in joining the planning the committee and/or can volunteer on the day of the event.  

5th Grade Dance, Saturday, May 4th

Let’s send off our HES graduates with great memories!  This event needs a chairperson, planning committee and volunteers for the day of the event.

Yearbook, ALL YEAR LONG

Do you enjoy photography?  Scrapbooking?  Were you on the Yearbook Committee in high school?  Did you want to be?  Ms. Koerber needs volunteers to help her with every aspect of creating the yearbook this year.  From taking photos at school events to layout and design and everything in between.  Please reach out if you can help in any way.  

Grade Level Volunteer Opportunities

Kindergarten

The HES Kindergarten Team is looking for volunteers to assist Kinder students with Tuffy Trade-In on Fridays throughout the fall semester. Volunteers will help Kindergarten students with counting tickets they’ve earned to trade in for prizes. Grade Level Family Liaison Positions

The Grade Level Family Liaisons are HES PTA members responsible for coordinating grade-level events. Basically, the Family Liaisons manage the grade’s FB group, answer questions from families, and share grade-specific information with families. Volunteer for PTA Board and Committee Positions

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the PTA board or committee positions, please contact Melissa Zawadzki, PTA President (president@hespta.org). We are always looking for individuals to help out! HES PTA will start recruiting for our Executive Board and Committees in March 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. There will be lots of communication, but if you are interested in learning more now, please contact Melissa Zawadzki, PTA President (president@hespta.org).

Volunteer Reimbursement Form

Thank you to all of our volunteers. If you have paid for supplies for PTA events and would like to be reimbursed, please complete the HES PTA Disbursement Form and submit to the PTA Treasurer, either via the PTA mailbox in the school front office or via email treasurer@hespta.org.
