The Mission of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The mission of the Hammond Elementary PTA is to positively impact the lives of students, teachers, and parents. The PTA is a child advocacy organization that represents and impacts every child in the school house. The PTA supports and enhances the children’s elementary school experience in many ways both in the school house and through community events. The PTA cultivates a cooperative staff and parent relationship through staff appreciation events and cooperative planning. The PTA also encourages parental and public involvement in the school through its many volunteer opportunities. At times, the PTA will advocate on behalf of students, families and the local school to the larger school administration and county government. The more members we have, the louder our voice when we speak out.

FAQ’s about our PTA

Why join the HES PTA?

We need your support, through your time and your financial contributions, to be able to carry out our mission of supporting and enhancing our children’s overall school experience in many ways. When you and your family join and participate in the PTA, we are able to:

  • Provide the school with volunteers for many school based events
  • Provide programs that support all HES Students, such as cultural arts assemblies, mock congressional hearings, after school programs, a talent show and a green schools program.
  • Put on fun family and community building activities such as Movie Night, Fun Run or Spring Carnival
  • Provide each grade level team with a grant to enhance their academic instructional program.
  • Provide appreciation programs throughout the year for our teachers and school administrators
  • Maintain the PTA website and Facebook presence

And so much more!

How often does the PTA meet?

The PTA holds quarterly general meetings. Meetings are published in the school newsletter (Tiger Tales), the PTA website (hespta.org), and the Hammond Elem PTA Facebook page. The meetings are informative and provide an opportunity to meet other parents and school staff members. All PTA members are encouraged to attend.

Who can join?

Any and all significant adults in the life of your child(ren) may join the PTA (parents, grandparents, guardians, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and caretakers). The HES PTA goal is to have all parents and guardians from every family become members.
